We went to The Meadows Music and Art Festival 2017 this past weekend (September 15th – 17th) and had an amazing time. We enjoyed the music, the light and stage design, the art and the food! We discovered new artists, saw some amazing use of the stage space and video projections and tried food we had never tried before.
As far as music, our top show was the Red Hot Chili Peppers, we grew up listening to them back in Colombia and to tell you the truth it was surreal to see them perform live. This show and Gorillaz was heavily based on the use of the video screens but we think that RHCP used this video features better.
It is also worth mentioning the 40-feet height Jeff Koons dog balloon Jay-Z had on his stage. The way he painted the silver balloon with lights to illuminate his stage was very smart and his performance was amazing.
We also discovered new music from bands like badbadnotgood and antibalas. Both were amazing surprises that we will add on our Spotify playlists!
Last but not least we saw some pretty cool art from one of our favorite graffiti artist @chrisrwk.
The food you ask? There was great food in the festival and there was a small pavilion dedicated to Queens County vendors where we found The Arepa Lady representing our homeland! We also saw our friends from The Malaysian Project serving tasty treats in the VIP area.
