Photoville is one of the largest photography exhibitions in Brooklyn and it has taken place by the Brooklyn Bridge since 2012. It is produced by United Photo Industries and this year the containers were open to the public from September 13th to 24th.
We visited because we have missed it in the previous editions and we were not disappointed. The curatorial work is present in the 55+ shipping containers repurposed into galleries. From art school photographers to the Marine Corps. we saw some impressive photography.
Among our favorite containers were “Battles Won” Presented by United States Marine Corps, “Charlottesville and Beyond” produced and presented by United Photo Industries for Photoville, “Contact High: Hip-Hop’s Iconic Photographs and Visual Culture” presented by Contact High Project and “Insider/Outsider” presented by Women Photograph & United Photo Industries. Please click on the name of the exhibitions to learn more about them.
Photoville will be back next year and we hope you get to see it.
